In case you missed it, Hill-Rom, a leading global medical technology company, recently acquired Voalte, a pioneer in mobile healthcare communication. On behalf of Hill-Rom, I’m thrilled to welcome the people of Voalte to our company.
On a personal level, I’m looking forward to working with Trey Lauderdale and the talented Voalte team. Those of you who know Trey may want to wish me luck in my role as Trey’s new boss. I’ve been in healthcare for more than 25 years and at Hill-Rom for the past six years, but I have a feeling that Trey’s enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit will require a whole new level of energy!
On a professional level, I’m looking forward to combining a young company like Voalte with the global resources of Hill-Rom. For over 100 years, Hill-Rom has focused on enhancing outcomes by ensuring doctors, nurses and other caregivers have the products they need to protect their patients, speed their recoveries and manage conditions. For the past 10 years, Voalte has focused on enhancing outcomes by empowering doctors and nurses with smartphones for up-to-the-minute communication and collaboration. The long-standing Hill-Rom mission dovetails perfectly with the forward-looking Voalte mission, ultimately helping our customers achieve the connected care model that’s so important to our industry’s future.
Healthcare leaders as well as clinicians at the point of care understand that the systems surrounding their patients – the smart beds, nurse call, vital signs monitors, infusion pumps, real-time location services, patient engagement systems, mobile devices – must be interconnected. While healthcare organizations have made substantial investments in advanced technologies, in many cases the return on those investments has been limited due to a lack of interoperability. Our vision is to bring systems together in a way that supports proactive care, with alert notifications sent directly to the appropriate clinician’s mobile device. Armed with actionable data, clinicians can go a long way toward preventing patient falls, predicting patient deterioration, reducing pressure injuries, decreasing length of stay and achieving other essential quality improvements.
For Hill-Rom customers, the addition of mobile communication solutions from Voalte will speed your progress toward a mobile future. For Voalte customers who are not yet Hill-Rom customers, the addition of our extensive R&D, services and support resources will add momentum to your mobile clinician initiatives.
We are excited to expand upon Voalte’s ability to quickly innovate new products and features, implement and manage projects, and design efficient clinical workflows. Together, we will work vigorously toward a digital transformation not only in the U.S. healthcare market but also across international sectors. By delivering actionable data from smart beds, nurse call and patient monitoring technology directly to a smartphone, we know that clinicians and their patients will benefit from better outcomes.
