With National Nurses Week starting today, I’m reflecting on this year’s theme of “Ethical Practice, Quality Care.” While the healthcare industry is facing some major challenges, Nurses Week reminds us to recognize the importance of ethics in nursing, and to acknowledge the strong commitment, compassion and care nurses display in their practice every day.
As Nurses Week celebrations get underway at healthcare organizations throughout the country, Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, New Hampshire, will go live with a Voalte smartphone solution. Over the past few months, the Voalte team has had the pleasure of working with Jenn Torosian, RN, MSN, NEA-BC, Catholic Medical Center’s Executive Director of Nursing. I met Jenn when she attended a dinner presentation I hosted in Boston last year. She immediately inspired me with her enthusiasm for providing the nursing staff and the entire healthcare team with a unified communication solution that will get everyone connected.
“I think one’s feelings waste themselves in words; they ought all to be distilled into actions which bring results.” – Florence Nightingale
Along the Journey to Magnet Excellence, Jenn is connecting the dots between healthcare technology, staff engagement, quality of care, teamwork and the patient experience. I’m pleased that Voalte technology will be an integral part of that journey. As a nurse who exemplifies true leadership, Jenn recognizes that creating a culture of excellence requires streamlining communication in a way that will ultimately enable her team to provide the highest quality of patient care.
I want to wish Jenn Torosian and all nurses a happy Nurses Week. Thank you for the leadership and passion that make a difference every day in the lives of your patients.
Candace Smith, MPA, RN, NEA-BC, is Chief Nursing Officer at Voalte.
