I’m looking forward to being in Orlando in a couple of weeks for HIMSS17. I’ve been attending this health IT conference for more than a decade, and every year is unique. Some years provide a glimpse into what the future looks like, while other years offer validation that I’ve been moving in the right direction. Every year, I look forward to catching up with colleagues I’ve worked with for years, and discussing the industry’s latest technologies and developing trends.
I met Trey Lauderdale, Voalte Founder and President, at a HIMSS event some years ago. It was hard to miss him in his bright pink pants, and hard to deny that those pink scrubs were a perfect way for an innovative start-up company to grab attention in a sea of suits. I had been working in the healthcare communication space since 2001. When Voalte arrived on the scene in 2008, there were only a few vendors trying to simplify the “nurse’s tool belt” by consolidating multiple communication devices into one.
It’s amazing how far healthcare communication has come since Voalte introduced smartphones at the point of care. In fact, just last week KLAS released its 2017 Best in KLAS: Software & Services report, which looked at 120 vendors who are offering clinical communication solutions, and concluded that Voalte is the #1 Secure Communications Platform in the market.
Having the luxury of first-hand experience with other healthcare communication companies, I can appreciate the significance of this major accomplishment. In only eight years, Voalte has created the market’s leading communication platform, and has deployed more smartphones in healthcare than any other company, including large-scare deployments at some of the country’s leading hospitals. While other vendors have struggled to bolt on smartphones to their core products, Voalte solutions were purpose-built for mobile technologies. While others offer basic text messaging, Voalte offers a platform that enables not only secure texting, but also VoIP calling, a BYOD option for those working outside the hospital, and advanced integrations for alarm and alert management.
The timing couldn’t be better. Many healthcare organizations have their EMR projects well underway or wrapped up, so new technologies are starting to move to the forefront of efforts to improve quality of care, patient safety, patient throughput, alarm fatigue and many other initiatives.
As I plan to attend my first HIMSS conference as a member of the Voalte team, I couldn’t be more excited to share the ways Voalte Platform is helping improve patient care for our customers. Those who know me will be relieved to learn I won’t be sporting bright pink scrubs. Our Sales team has evolved to wearing pink Voalte shirts, while our Services team continues in the pink scrubs tradition. Our customers appreciate that we offer not only the best solution in the market, but also the best (and most visible) onsite support.
Wherever your hospital is on the clinical communication journey, I invite you to come see us at Booth 673. Schedule a demo to see for yourself why KLAS ranked Voalte Platform the top secure communication platform in the market, and meet some of the best and brightest people in the healthcare communication space.
