As we begin 2018, momentum in the clinical communication market is accelerating. I believe this momentum will continue to grow as more health systems become educated about the enormous benefits of not only upgrading their communication solutions but also integrating with other critical hospital systems.
For years, many of our customers have used Voalte smartphones simply for voice calling, secure texting and basic alarm functions. This was a big improvement over pagers, legacy phones and overhead intercoms, but didn’t make full use of all the capabilities a comprehensive communication platform can offer. Today, we’re working closely with our customers to integrate voice and text communication with alarm middleware, the electronic medical record (EMR) and barcode medication administration so they can gain more value from all of these systems. (See our new white paper, “3 keys to patient-centric care team communication.”)
We’re also collaborating with health systems as they loop physicians into their care team communication workflows. They started with a shared smartphone solution for nurses and others at the point of care, and now want to extend that reach to physicians outside the hospital. Historically, physician communication has been a challenge, with paging, time-consuming call-back loops, and shifting on-call schedules making it difficult to reach the right person quickly and easily. It’s gratifying to see our customers rolling out Voalte Me for a BYOD solution that brings physicians into the care team communication loop and prevents delays in patient care.
As health systems focus on the more advanced capabilities of a comprehensive communication platform, it becomes even more critical to have the right partner to help along the way. I’m proud to say that the Voalte Clinical Workflow Solutions and Professional Services teams are second to none. We were first to introduce smartphones into hospitals nearly ten years ago, and we know which steps on the front end will save time and trouble later. Working with our customers, we integrate the industry’s most powerful communication platform with physiological alarms, nurse call, the EMR, and PBX phone systems – all for better workflow processes that translate into high-quality patient care.
