VP of Patient Care Services at University of Washington’s Valley Medical Center implements new workflow to improve patient safety.
When Valley Medical Center implemented a new EHR mobile app and upgraded to Voalte Platform for clinical communication, the hospital developed new clinical workflows as well. One involved nurses indicating “Busy” status on their smartphones to reduce interruptions when administering medications. Pre-implementation, the hospital had 2.92 errors per month on its Renal Respiratory Unit, while post-implementation, errors dropped to 2.25 per month, for a 23% improvement and boost in patient safety.
“After implementing Voalte Platform and optimizing some of our workflow processes, we saw hospital-acquired pressure ulcers, other skin integrity events and medication errors drop significantly.”
