Healthcare Informatics Pioneer Honored at the Voalte User Experience Conference (VUE18) for Her Creative Use of Communication Technology to Enhance Patient Care
SARASOTA, Fla. (October 4, 2018) — Voalte, the leader in healthcare communication technology, today announced that Candice Friestad, DNP, MSN, MBA, RN, the Director of Clinical Informatics at Avera Health in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has won the 2018 Voalte Innovator of the Year Award. She received this honor at the fourth annual Voalte User Experience (VUE18) conference at The Westin Sarasota, Florida.
The Voalte Innovator of the Year Award recognizes a healthcare leader who creatively uses communication technology to support caregiver collaboration and productivity that enhances patient safety and the quality of care. Avera Health is an integrated health system based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, that serves a population of nearly 1 million people across five states through 34 hospitals, 200+ primary and specialty care clinics, and 40 senior living facilities.
“Since Avera Health became a Voalte customer in 2014, Candice has been a driving force in establishing the health system as a leader in patient-centric, integrated mobile communication,” said Trey Lauderdale, Voalte Founder and CEO. “She has been instrumental in helping us integrate Voalte Platform with Avera’s EHR, nurse call, patient monitoring, and admissions, discharge and transfer (ADT) data to ensure patients receive the highest-quality care. We’re honored to recognize Candice’s many achievements and industry contributions with this well-deserved award.”
“At Avera Health, we cover 72,000 square miles across five states, so we need a communication platform that connects care teams not only at one hospital but across numerous facilities,” said Candice. “Working with Voalte and our clinicians at the bedside, we were first to implement the multi-site capabilities of Voalte Platform to ensure our care teams work efficiently, no matter where they are, and deliver the highest level of care to our patients. As a result, we’re expediting receipt of critical lab results, reducing medication administration delays, and reducing length of stay by speeding time to discharge. Thank you, Voalte, for recognizing our commitment to innovation.”
Previous winners of the Voalte Innovator of the Year Award were Patrick Duffy (2017), Sr. Director of Communication Technologies & Infrastructure Services at University of Iowa Health Care, Jennifer Lassonde (2016), Senior Project Specialist at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Denis Baker (2015), Former CIO of Sarasota Memorial Health Care System.
VUE18 is healthcare’s premier event focusing on how integrated mobile health technology can streamline workflows, improve staff productivity and enhance clinical collaboration and decision-making throughout hospitals and health systems. The event brings together industry thought leaders and Voalte customers who share their insights and success stories, and learn about best practices for implementing and leveraging new technologies to enhance patient care.
